We all remember that awkward moment at the 2009 MTV awards, the moment where Mr Kanye West had a little too much gin and juice and interrupted poor little Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech for Best Female Video. “I’m sorry, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time,” the words that ring in my ears whenever I think back to that fateful night. So it goes without saying that none of us would blame young Taylor for not having Kanye on speed dial, in fact you’d think it strange if she didn’t hold at least a teenie tiny bit of a grudge against the outspoken college dropout. However, Miss Swift has clearly taken the higher ground and buried the hatchet as her latest shoot with Austrailian Harper’s Bazaar clearly shows.
The April issue features the American starlet in a number of high profile designers; Tom Ford, Miu Miu and Lanvin, and… (would you believe it) Kanye West! The shoot, styled by Harper’s Bazaar director, Christine Centenera, who also consulted Kanye on his s/s ’12 collection, sees Swift wearing a top from Kanye’s first collection, a collection that received rather unfavourable reviews. The shoot is well timed, coinciding with the showcase of West’s second collection, which previewed at Paris Fashion Week today. I wonder if his ego will be able to stand another round of bad reviews from his critics..? Probably.
