When Zalando met Miss Piggy

With the upcoming February release of the Muppets film, coming almost 13 years since their last screen appearance, we took the opportunity to catch up with the leading lady herself, Miss Piggy…

We loved your photoshoot in November’s edition of American InStyle! As an actress, you must be used to being in front of the camera, but this was your first experience modeling. Is this the start of a career in the fashion industry?

Well I don’t see myself as a “model”, let alone a “supermodel”… I eat more for breakfast than they do in a year! I see myself more as a muse of the fashion world, than as an inspiration to any designer. If I can help someone realize their dreams by dressing me – for free, of course – then both of us are winners. Moi, especially!

You are clearly a fashionista. How would you describe your personal style? And who’s your favourite designer?

My style is simply me. It says, “Hey, look at me! Don’t I look fantastic?” I count myself very lucky to have worked with many of the best in the business, including Zac Posen, Marc Jacobs, Christian Louboutin, Jason Wu, Brian Atwood, Philip Crangi and Prabal Gurung. I apologise if I’ve left anyone out, and if there are any designers out there who would like to be on my list − we can talk, after a few dresses!

So what are your tips for being “en vogue”?

Well, Editor Anna Wintour would help, for a start…oh wait! You don’t mean the magazine, you mean being ultra fashionable and trendy! Well I would say you have to be fabulous to start off with! And then you need the right team of people, to get you mentioned in the right publications. Like I said before, it wouldn’t do you any harm to have Anna Wintour as an acquaintance.

Sooner or later, every Film diva is faced with her expiry date. This often leads to plastic surgery, lipo-suction or botox, where necessary. Are you totally real or have you had anything done?

Have I had botox? Darling, I’m 100% botox. And as to whether I’ve had anything done – tons! Oh yeah! I’ve actually had so much done, that I wouldn’t come too near my face without a helmet…
