Tom Ford Spring/Summer

Through Vogue, Tom Ford has released images of his S/S ’12 collection. First shown during London fashion week in September. At first glance it looks rather reminiscent of Gucci’s S/S ’11, with it’s flowing sheer maxi’s and flashes of bright purple and red. Overall the monochrome collection has a more evening than day time feel with the standout pieces being perfect red carpet material! The collection, shot by Ford himself, has a wide range of influences. From all things fetish, shown in the leather jackets and corset style lacing and zipper embellishments, to the romantic and the glam with gypsy style dresses, plunging necklines and frilled hemlines. One thing that the all the trends shared was the undeniable feminine appeal. In an interview with Vogue, Ford described his style of working,

“My focus is really old-fashioned,” he adds. “I want to do classic clothes. I don’t want to do trendy collections that swing around from season to season. I want to do things that will stay in a woman’s wardrobe a long time—quite ‘forever’ pieces. So I’m looking for consistency.”
