Can fashion be exhibited like art? Of course, is the answer to that question. From September 16 to January 7, 2012, at the New York FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) the public will have the chance to feast their eyes on 100 items from long-standing style icon Daphne Guinness‘s private collection of couture and high fashion. Pieces by her personal friend the late Alexander McQueen, as well as Philip Treacy, Valentino, Chanel and many more world-celebrated designers are amongst those that will be on display, having been lovingly restored for the occasion. Other media, including films and photographs of Guinness will be presented alongside them. Flamboyant, extravagant and a muse to multiple fashion designers, the exhibition will serve to document Guinness’s progression to her fashion persona and to becoming the ultimate style guru and an artist in her own right. Notable highlights include her love for fatally high heels, futuristic pieces and the uniform; along with her film “A tribute to Alexander McQueen”. Anyone headed to NYC this autumn/winter is in for a treat!
