Both when I read about this, and when I saw the video clip, I literally laughed out loud. At the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Awards on Monday, Lady Gaga was fittingly presented the Fashion Icon Award. The announcement, however, was not exactly a fitting scenario. Apparently, Gaga found out about the win from American Vogue Editor Anna Wintour via…wait for it…a text message saying, “We’re so excited to tell you that you won the CFDA Fashion Icon Award.”
Well, since Gaga follows her own “single-name” lead when adding contacts to her phone, she mistook “Anna” to be her friend and stylist Nicola Formichetti’s assistant Anna Treblin. An honest mistake of course, except Gaga replied, “Yes, bitch, we did it.”
It was not until after quickly receiving a response saying, “How lovely, and we will all be waiting to see what you will wear” that Gaga realized she had to pull her foot and 12 inch heel out of her mouth. At this point, had something like this happened to us normal people, I think we would have spontaneously combust in correspondence with the code of the fashion world.

But, this is Gaga so it is just hilarious, and (thankfully) Anna is used to being called a bitch by the haters in the media, so she was probably thinking “THAT’s original.”
The moral of the story? That’s why you always enter a contact’s first AND last name in your phone…
