Natalie Portman’s intense Black Swan workout and Rodarte’s new collection

There’s an interesting article on Elle’s online website now about former New York ballet dancer Mary Helen Bowers  -”Ballet Exercise – Natalie Portman’s Black Swan workout” by Emelie Hebert -  Mary helped Natalie Portman with the right training to prepare for her role of a ballet dancer. I could never cope with that massive amount of training both prior and during filming; “We’d meet for five hours a day, six days a week. Even after filming started, we’d squeeze in sessions. Nat would spend 12 to 14 hours on set but we’d train in the morning and evening. It was a very intense time.”

“Natalie was very devoted to preparing for this role. She had a body double for some of the harder turning sequences but 90 percent of the dancing you see in Black Swan is her—even the upside-down splits! We started training a year before rehearsals began”.

Wow, usually there are Oscar winners who are considered as ”non-worthy” of their award, but if Natalie gets one there will be no question that she’s earned her golden statue!
